Copyright Documentation for CopyrightProof.cfm:

Purpose: Copyrighting the document at CopyrightProof.cfm and presenting its documentation trail on this page provides indisputable evidence for doubters, skeptics, and self-styled debunkers that John Titor's story was not fabricated sometime after America was clearly becoming a police state.

Submittal:   On May 20, 2003 a printed copy of the document at CopyrightProof.cfm was sent by U.S. certified mail to the U.S. Copyright Office with a filled-out FORM TX application and $30 copyright application fee. The application was submitted with a document creation date of 5/19/03. The Copyright Office's web site indicated that I should expect to receive a certificate of registration back from them in 4 to 5 months. The copyright registration was apparently made effective at the Copyright Office on June 6th, but the final Certificate of Registration was not mailed back to me until August 26th, 2003.

Note the label number of the receipt above is 70022030000281399598, which for a while could be used at to track and confirm delivery. On June 6 2003, the graphic capture of the browser window below in Figure 2 was obtained at that official USPS site. (The page was captured because it was unknown how long the USPS would make this tracking information available online. Indeed, as of early December 2003 a search for the label number now results in "Information for this item is no longer available online; however, it is available through your local Post Office for a fee.")

Clicking on the original Shipment Details of the above page reveals a little more information. You'll need to use the Back button of your Web browser to return to this page, as this link is a .jpg image capture of the browser window at 50% compression.

Below is the certified mail receipt that I finally received back on 6/25/03. I was expecting a signature but they just stamped it instead:

Below is the top section of the U.S. Copyright Office's FORM TX that was returned to me with the Certificate of Registration on it by the Register of Copyrights. The postmark on the envelope containing this certificate of registration was dated August 26th and I picked it up in early September after returning from a summer vacation abroad.

The fact of this document's copyright can be looked up on the Copyright Office's Web site at (when the search functionality is working, it doesn't always) by either an Author search on , a Title Search on John Titor, or by a Registration Number search on TX-5-776-115 .

Finally, anyone who still does not believe that the John Titor information was already in existence by May of 2003 can simply go look up the exact document shown at CopyrightProof.cfm at the United States Copyright Office:
